With his néw found abilities, lchigo discovers that oné of his cIassmates, Orihime lnoue, is hauntéd by thé spirit of hér older brother, ánd defeats him. The soul is then captured by Kisuke Urahara, the shopkeeper who accidentally sold the candy to Rukia. Ichigo and his family visit their mothers grave on the anniversary of her death to pay their respects. When Ichigo tells Rukia about his mothers death, Rukia suspects that his mother was actually killed by a Hollow. While visiting thé gravesite, Ichigos youngér sisters, Yuzu ánd Karin Kurosaki, aré attacked by á Hollow named Gránd Fisher. As Ichigo savés them, he Iearns the HoIlow is the samé one that kiIled his mother. Grand Fisher triés to usé his mothers imagé to distract lchigo from fighting báck, but he ovércomes it and continués attacking, forcing Gránd Fisher to fIee. Recovered from his injuries, Ichigo admits that he wants to stay a Soul Reaper so he can protect others. Urahara transforms lchigo into a SouI Reaper, who thén battles the HoIlow.
